I'm saved, now what?
Once you've accepted Christ as your Savior, you should take 4 more steps.
1. Baptism - this demonstrates and celebrates our decision to follow Jesus. The water symbolizes God's forgiveness. Just as water cleanses the body, so God cleanses the soul. Jesus Himself gaves us the example by being baptized himself, by John the Baptist.
2. Bible reading - this teaches us more about God. Read a little bit every day. God shows us more and more of Himself the more we read about Him. A good place to start is the gospel of John. It's found in the New Testament, right after Luke.
3. Prayer - this is talking to God. You can talk to God just like you do your best friend. There is nothing you can say that will surprise Him. Be honest with him about your feelings and your needs. Find descriptive words about who He is. You can find many descriptive names and titles for God in the book of Psalms. You will also find many good examples of prayer here. The author was very real when he spoke with God about how he was feeling.
4. Belonging to a church - this reinforces your faith and provides a support system. A Christian without a church is like a baseball player without a team or a soldier without an army. You aren't strong enough to survive alone. We would love for you to be part of our family! If you don't live close enough, please make sure to find a good, full-gospel (meaning they believe and teach the entire Bible) church.
These steps are very important in your new life! If you need further assistance, please contact us through the "contact" link on our site, or by giving us a call at the church. Congratulations on your new decision!
